In the play, this boy is hated by his family and people around him for wanting to pursue to his dreams as a ballet dancer (which is perceived as 'not so manly') and men are perceived to act a certain way. As black people, people around us may expect us to act a certain way where if you dare to do something different such as dress differently, pursue a different career or even talk a certain way, you're almost seen as an outcast within your 'black' environment so...
