Words cannot even express how special Guyana🇬🇾 is to me. Not only this was my first visit of South American continent, but also to be able to experience home of my partner in crime @guyanalyse , meeting my Guyanese family, who were the most welcoming and the kindest people I have ever met. 🫶
Guyana is not on many people's travel bucket list, but it should be, here are the reasons why:
🇬🇾 Guyana means in Amerindian "Land of many waters" and it is Guyana's numerous rivers that provides a path to country's most unique ecosystems.
🇬🇾 Guyana is the only South American country with English as the official language, so you won't experience a language barrier
🇬🇾 The World's largest single drop waterfall is located here
🇬🇾 Guyana's nickname is "The land of the Giants" as it is a home of exceptionally large plants and animals, such as Giant Otters, Harpy Eagles, Arapaima and Victoria Amazonica, the giant water lily, Guyana's national flower.
🇬🇾 Guyana has one of the continent's largest rainforest, that hasn't been explored by humans. Every year new species are discovered in these forests.
🇬🇾 It is the home of one of the largest floating bridges.
🇬🇾 Four of eight species of Sea Turtles nest here.
🇬🇾 The best time to visit is during Mashramani or Mash in February to celebrate Guyana becoming a republic with vibrant float parade, costumes and street dancing.
🇬🇾 Guyana is a melting pot of cultures. It has a remarkable ethnic blend of people and food is just delicious. From Amerindian tribes that survived colonisation, African descendants, East Indian settlers to descendants of British and Dutch colonists.
🇬🇾 Guyana has been praised for its Eco-tourism for years, Lodges around the country have made a vital contribution to conservation, therefore coming to Guyana contributes towards protecting a pristine rainforest.
Did I convince you? I hope so, because Guyana will always have my 🫶 and I will be back.
