Real Luxury101: Come Home To Guyana?

Take a tour of a more upmarket neighborhood in this beautiful Guyana of ours. One thing we've been hearing a lot is that Real Guyana has been focusing too much on the poor and on the condition of the ghetto. Apparently it isn't that bad outside of the ghetto and we should focus more on some of the beautiful houses in our country. Here are a few of those beautiful houses but do bear a few things in mind as you look at some of the infrastructure and development the government want Guyanese abroad to come home to. When you see houses like this on the G.I.N.A website they're cropped, NewGuyMedia and other govt propaganda distributors follow suit and yesterday we saw a very pretty video put out by the Georgetown Chamber of Industry and Commerce which sought to paint a similarly dishonest picture of our country. So who's giving you the full frame? Well that's one of the reasons this page exists. Think it's just bad in the ghetto? Imagine coming back to Guyana with a few million dollars to spend on a really nice home and finding yourself in this neighborhood. We have almost no faith in the recently announced plan for a modern 'Silica City' built on the Soesdyke Highway, we are no longer impressed by words and fancy billboards. Why start putting down proper infrastructure on the highway when hundreds of thousands of Guyanese are living in flooded 'Hydro Cities' when it rains because of moon-like craters in their roads? Why start on the highway when right here in town they can't even get it right, in some of the most wealthy neighborhoods that contribute millions to the nations coffers in tax dollars? Why are we trying to impress the world when the people living right here can't receive the basics? Guess we're redefining luxury... Real Luxury.
