Women in Caribbean Aquaculture (WiCA): Celebrating Two Years of Impact and Innovation**
Two years ago, Women in Caribbean Aquaculture (WiCA) was founded with a bold vision—to empower, connect, and elevate women in aquaculture across the Caribbean. What started as a small network of passionate women has grown into a movement that is shaping the future of sustainable aquaculture in the region.
A Journey of Empowerment and Change
WiCA was born out of a need for greater representation, leadership, and opportunities for women in the aquaculture industry. Over the past two years, we have:
✅ *Built a strong community* of women scientists, farmers, entrepreneurs, and students, creating a space for mentorship and collaboration.
✅ **Hosted impactful networking events**, bringing together women in science and business to exchange ideas, learn from industry leaders, and inspire the next generation.
✅ **Advocated for aquaculture as a STEM field**, ensuring that women in the Caribbean are included in global conversations on food security, innovation, and sustainable blue economies.
✅ *Provided training and resources* to women seeking to expand their knowledge, grow their businesses, and access funding opportunities.
✅ *Connected with international partners* to highlight the expertise and contributions of Caribbean women in aquaculture on a global scale.
Looking Ahead: The Future of WiCA
As we celebrate this milestone, we are excited about what lies ahead. The next chapter for WiCA includes:
➡️ Expanding mentorship and training programs to reach more women in remote and underserved communities.
➡️ Strengthening our advocacy for policies that support women-led aquaculture initiatives.
➡️ Hosting the **Women in Caribbean Aquaculture Summit**, where women will gain critical skills in finance, business development, and wellness.
➡️ Growing partnerships with global organizations to open doors for Caribbean women in the blue economy.

As we continue to make waves in the industry, we invite *more women, industry leaders, and partners to join us in creating a future where women in Caribbean aquaculture thrive.*
💙 Here’s to two years of impact—and many more to come!
